The Corpus Christi Black Chamber of Commerce, originally chartered in 1943 as the Negro Chamber of Commerce, was the first of its kind in the region. Established to foster economic development within the Black community and the greater Coastal Bend area, its mission also focused on educating Black and minority business owners about city and county plans that could drive high-quality growth and economic progress. The Chamber played a pivotal role in promoting existing Black and minority businesses, supporting start-ups, and encouraging entrepreneurial ventures across the Coastal Bend.

OUR MISSION
The Mission of the Corpus Christi Black Chamber is:
(1) to help develop, promote, and protect Black owned businesses in the Corpus Christi area;
(2) to support the advancement, education and economic growth of the black owned businesses through Advocacy;
(3) to serve as a resource for black owned businesses on access to capital and other funding opportunities, and
(4) collaborate with other organizations to support small businesses in the Corpus Christi area.
OUR PURPOSE & VISION
The purpose and Mission of the Black Chamber shall be to teach economic development and expand access to capital, provide technical support, procurement opportunities, effective networking, and sharing of information for Black owned businesses and other minority owned businesses as well as the local African American community as a whole. Additionally, the Black Chamber shall serve as a business resource, community resource and advocate for African American and minority business related issues. The activities are driven by a strategic plan. The Black Chamber is a nonprofit, nonpartisan entity and abides by the rules set forth thru the IRS 501(c)6 classification.
