BACKGROUND

The 2022 Black Chamber Education Scholarships are presented in June each year to support African American high school graduates pursuing higher education or college students in the first two years of college in the Coastal Bend Area.  The Coastal Bend Area includes Nueces, San Patricio, Aransas, Kleberg, Bee, Brooks, Jim Wells, Kenedy, and Refugio counties.

The Dr. Geraldine Johnson Scholarship and Dr. Gloria Scott Scholarships are designated for students interested in education or business majors. Scholarship recipients are recognized at a Juneteenth Mixer and the Annual Business & Young Entrepreneur Awards Banquet in the Fall.  The Board of Directors of the Corpus Christi Black Chamber of Commerce wishes you success

2022 HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP

*CCBCC awards up to four (4) $1,000 annually to local African American high school graduates in the Coastal Bend Area. *All applications are reviewed and processed by the CCBCC Scholarship Committee *Scholarship will be made out to the student and college of choice *Recipient(s) will submit a 500-word essay on “How would you prepare to enter into the hybrid/remote workforce in the age of technology (i.e. virtual reality workspace, robotics, AI)?”

2022 COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP

*CCBCC awards an $1,000 scholarship to local African American college students in the Coastal Bend Area. *All applications are reviewed and processed by the CCBCC Scholarship Committee *Scholarship will be made out to the student and college attending * Recipient(s) will submit a 500-word essay on “How would you prepare to enter into the hybrid/remote workforce in the age of technology (i.e. virtual reality workspace, robotics, AI)?”

Application Criteria Should Include the following:
  • Cover letter with a graduation photo
  • Completed Application with name, address, contact number, email, name of parent(s)/guardian(s), graduation /college info
  •  High School or College Transcript, Honors/Awards, College/University
  •   acceptance letter, and major.
  • Waiver Form
  • Essay (double space, 12 font size, Arial/times roman font, title )

All applications are reviewed and processed by the CCBCC Scholarship Committee & Scholarships will be made out to the student and college attending.

Application Deadline: May 30th by 5:00 pm

Award Winners Notified:  June 6th

Scholarship Presentation:  June 11
