Invitation to Carbon Interactive Workshop hosted by Harte Research Institute and the U.S. Dept. of Energy (Advocacy Opportunity -Environment)
We are writing to invite you to an important conversation. Recent legislation has made available significant funding for carbon management projects as part of building our nation’s clean energy infrastructure. To inform our communities about the opportunities and challenges related to carbon capture and carbon storage, Harte Research Institute is hosting a workshop on Thursday, November 10, from 12:30 – 5:30 pm.
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) will facilitate the workshop. The aim is for the DOE and federal agency partners to learn about community priorities and concerns around these types of projects, including how communities would like to be involved in their development, and for community members to learn how to access more information. The event will be interactive, including discussions with local speakers, researchers, federal agencies, and community-based organizations. The discussion will include diverse perspectives from communities across the Greater Corpus Christi area. Below is a general overview of the session topics. Please see attached Information Sheet with more details.
- Session 1 – What kind of carbon projects, and why?
- Session 2 – Would these projects fit here in the Coastal Bend?
- Session 3 – What can be done to mitigate project impacts?
- Session 4 – Open plan session – Q-and-A exhibits
Lunch, snacks, and beverages will be provided. If you’re interested in attending and contributing to this important conversation, please register here.
